Summary

A masquerade ball brings together an NFL player and a penniless princess in this smart and sexy romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills。

Levelheaded Francesca Lane never thought she’d miss her own wedding。 But when her fiancé betrays her, she puts on her wedding dress and ditches the altar for a masquerade ball—at an exclusive lifestyle club。

There, she meets unknown-to-her NFL star Tuck Avery, dressed as a prince and hiding behind a mask—he’s there to celebrate his birthday。 For one night, Francesca and Tuck indulge in a wickedly incognito affair。 No names。 No strings。 And the masks don’t come off。

Unfortunately, Francesca realizes quickly that her masked prince is the wealthy jock who lives in the penthouse of her apartment building。 His hobbies include parties and supermodels—or so the tabloids say。 Getting tangled up with a shallow jerk is the last thing Francesca needs right now, so she vows to keep Tuck from recognizing her (not that she’s his type anyway)。

But fate has a teeny-tiny trick up her sleeve…a plus sign on a pregnancy test。 Can this tormented prince accept love, or will he push his princess away forever?

One night standPregnancyGood spiceI loved Francesca, I think it’s one of the few FMC that is well developed and actually admirable。 Although she tells Tuck about the pregnancy late in the book, I actually liked it because their relationship didn’t feel forced。 And the epilogue was perfect。It actually exceeded my expectations。

Don't remember why but this book was better than the first, which was good。 I do like books with angst, so that may be it。 Don't remember why but this book was better than the first, which was good。 I do like books with angst, so that may be it。 。。。more

It was an easy read with cute romance moments, but the ending felt very rushed。 There was a lot of explicit telling the reader about the characters, which felt very forced at times。 The last 2 chapters had so much jammed into them, and with so many tropes going on it almost killed the story。 I also don’t understand how Tuck didn’t notice she was pregnant for so long? It was a simple story to read but felt a bit clunky and not cohesive。

NOT A SHOCKER! Ilsa tossed a touchdown pass on this one!!Not a surprise as it’s by one of newly this year discovered authors, Ilsa Madden-Mills。 I rarely read the 2nd book in a stand alone (huh??) series right after the 1st because I want to enjoy the “main” characters a little bit longer before I allow anyone else to possibly steal their thunder。 I want to give each story my full attention and not adversely judge based on their counterparts in original book。 That being said, I read book one a c NOT A SHOCKER! Ilsa tossed a touchdown pass on this one!!Not a surprise as it’s by one of newly this year discovered authors, Ilsa Madden-Mills。 I rarely read the 2nd book in a stand alone (huh??) series right after the 1st because I want to enjoy the “main” characters a little bit longer before I allow anyone else to possibly steal their thunder。 I want to give each story my full attention and not adversely judge based on their counterparts in original book。 That being said, I read book one a couple of months ago and it was just a long enough to forget。 Which I’m glad I did as I would have been totally bummed when I discovered they (characters from book one) weren’t in this book almost at all! This story followed Tuck, Ronans best and oldest friend on the Pythons football team as he is now facing HIS mortality in the NFL world。 Madden-Mills made it seem believable。 How like I imagine the players feel IRL when they are starting to face down aging and being replaced by a younger, newer model and that really added depth to the story。 He had a lot of emotional baggage he was avoiding dealing with and it all boiled down to a pretty closed off, leery of everybody he didn’t already know, man。 He didn’t trust easily but wanted to try as his parents did not show him love or affection and he wasn’t sure if he was just too broken to love or BE lovesZ He Was however, tentatively willing to wing it for a shot with the h。Enter Francisca who is an artist with her own deep seated fears as she was left on the stairs of a police station (I believe??) when she was just a baby。 She carried that rejected feeling around with her her entire life and it polluted all of her relationships。 She was a bit more of a dreamer than and believed in fate thanTuck and when they met we learned opposites really DO attract! We follow these two as h gets pregnant and struggles with how to tell H。 He had made it clear he does not want to have a baby and pass on his messed up genes to another and feared he’d be a terrible father like his own。You see they’d meet in a naughty club where for just one night they wanted to forget their problems and who they were, the issues they face and the choices to be made, just wanted to be free!! They take that chance to “let their hair down” and just BE for a night。 This results in a pregnancy that catapults this book into action and doesn’t let up until the very end。 This book had the most steam in it I’ve ever read from Ilsa🔥🥵🌶!! I was floored and had to fan myself multiple times throughtout, YUM-ME!I’m glad I waited to read this so I had a chance to fall in love with Tuck。 Would have LOVED to see Ronan in here yet I understand why he wasn’t featured。 He and Tuck are in completely different places in their lives and just didn’t have that same connection as before when they were both just guys getting older in the league。The narrators on the audible version rocked pretty hard too! Lee Samuels and Stella Bloom, both veterans I believe, really know their stuff! They helped weave the story to new levels and added an element of drama to make you feel even that much more invested。 All in all, this was another banger by Ilsa Madden-Mills who has YET to disappointment。 Every single book I’ve read by her has evoked some type of emotion that is real and honest and I love it! I am into another book of hers I think to round out my duets by her for the year。 Go grab this book, you won’t regret it! 。。。more

Cute but long winded。 Quite a bit of skimming in this one

My first IMM!Princess and the Player is my FIRST Ilsa Madden-Mills’ book and I am now officially in love!! My goodness! There was nothing I did not absolutely love about this story。 Both MC finding their own way in life after experiencing VERY DIFFICULT childhoods。 Both had very similar experiences in their early lives, but struggled to rise above。 Coming to terms with it and moving forward。 I absolutely FLOVED the end。

so boring。 10000 things happening at once making it feel poorly executed。 all the characters feel like caricatures and i've forgotten their names already。also maybe it's just me but i hate the blue and yellow combo for this cover ugh。 so boring。 10000 things happening at once making it feel poorly executed。 all the characters feel like caricatures and i've forgotten their names already。also maybe it's just me but i hate the blue and yellow combo for this cover ugh。 。。。more

Started good and had all the fuel for a good angsty plot but the author decided to drag it out with pointless information and when the truth came out it was so damn anticlimactic。。 after 40% it got so damn boring and pointless I started to skim。

The cover of this is so similar to the first in the series I kept skipping over this。 Glad I finally realized it was book 2! This book is very heavy- too heavy IMO。 Madden-Mills' humor is present but it can't quite lift the story when they gave both H & h such shit hands in life。 Loved all the side characters as usual and this would have been a 4 star ready but h doesn't tell H about the baby until 80% through。 And then the remaining 20% doesn't follow the previous characterizations。 A very meh The cover of this is so similar to the first in the series I kept skipping over this。 Glad I finally realized it was book 2! I was so excited for Tuck's story and reading the blurb with the accidental preganancy i has such high hopes but this was a mess。It felt so disjointed。 A lot of side characters and their drama took over the romance plot。 A lot of telling instead of showing "their relationship" if we can call it that。A lot of info dump about their pasts just thrown in for the sake of justifying their behaviour which is one of my pet peeves tbh。 I hate when we find out crutial informations when randomly the h or H I was so excited for Tuck's story and reading the blurb with the accidental preganancy i has such high hopes but this was a mess。It felt so disjointed。 A lot of side characters and their drama took over the romance plot。 A lot of telling instead of showing "their relationship" if we can call it that。A lot of info dump about their pasts just thrown in for the sake of justifying their behaviour which is one of my pet peeves tbh。 I hate when we find out crutial informations when randomly the h or H says it in their inner monologues。 I don't care about that kind of character development。Plot things aside i hated the h or Franceska。With the accitendal pregnancy you can get 2 stories, one when she hids their kid for years and the other one or in this case when she tells him the truth in the last chapters!! And honestly i wish she hid their child because seeing how she deliberetly decided to omit the truth when everyone around them seemed to know but Tuck was so annoying。He deserved so much better。 。。。more

If you're familiar with this trope, there shouldn't be anything that'll be a surprise。 The story is not as light as the cover implies, but I think the author wrote a good balance of serious and sweet/funny。 The MC's actions and reactions are not unforgivable so I was never laughing/yelling at the book。 The only true eyebrow raise I gave was a public sex scene; and it wasn't really the location but the duration of it。 Like, if you're going to do it be quick about it。 The thrill is the thought of If you're familiar with this trope, there shouldn't be anything that'll be a surprise。 The story is not as light as the cover implies, but I think the author wrote a good balance of serious and sweet/funny。 The MC's actions and reactions are not unforgivable so I was never laughing/yelling at the book。 The only true eyebrow raise I gave was a public sex scene; and it wasn't really the location but the duration of it。 Like, if you're going to do it be quick about it。 The thrill is the thought of being caught, not actually getting caught。 ;-P 。。。more

I loved the first book in this series, and anxiously awaiting this book, but unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations。 Francesca Lane gets dumped right before her wedding, accepts an invitation to a sex club, and has a one night fling with football player Tuck Avery (although she doesn't know who he is that night。) It turns out they are neighbors, and then it further turns out she's pregnant。 I didn't connect with either of the characters and had a hard time sticking with the story whi I loved the first book in this series, and anxiously awaiting this book, but unfortunately it didn't live up to my expectations。 Francesca Lane gets dumped right before her wedding, accepts an invitation to a sex club, and has a one night fling with football player Tuck Avery (although she doesn't know who he is that night。) It turns out they are neighbors, and then it further turns out she's pregnant。 I didn't connect with either of the characters and had a hard time sticking with the story while listening to the audiobook。 。。。more

Francesca and Tucker。 These two meet at a Sex Club。 No names are given。 And they are wearing masks and also it is Tucker’s birthday。 Tucker’s buddy, Jasper, gets their competitive streak going and naturally it involves women。 This is where Francesca comes in。 That night went extremely well。 Then nothing。 Then as times goes on, they meet again。 Sparks fly again。 But both are hesitant because of their pasts。 Will they get together or will their pasts have them chickening out?

What a mess。 Other reviews mention the book not being polished and I would agree。 Not a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope but a well written romance can get me past my preference。 Lack of communication between the leads drove me crazy。 Too many side characters that just lead to confusion。

The build up was nice and drawn out。 The progression of the relationship took time, there was building。 Then the climax hit, and it was wrapped up in a pretty blue bow within 2 short chapters。 Which is annoying because the characters, although dialogue was a bit flat, their backgrounds were well built。 The reasons for their issues and what drives them were touched upon and there was healing but this major issue happens and it's just like "no, this is the end。" Then suddenly, "I can't live withou The build up was nice and drawn out。 The progression of the relationship took time, there was building。 Then the climax hit, and it was wrapped up in a pretty blue bow within 2 short chapters。 Which is annoying because the characters, although dialogue was a bit flat, their backgrounds were well built。 The reasons for their issues and what drives them were touched upon and there was healing but this major issue happens and it's just like "no, this is the end。" Then suddenly, "I can't live without them" with no steps in between。 Other than that it was a cute, quick story。 A good amount of smut。 。。。more

This was so great! I was cheering for this couple the whole time。 This is a sports romance, billionaire, accidentally pregnancy。 Their one time hookup was only supposed to be one night but turns out, they live in the same apartment building and months later they meet again。 But she has a secret, she’s pregnant and has no intention on telling the player。
